Students must attend 70% of the classes during the academic term. 

If a health report approved by the board decision is submitted, students who cannot take the exam can take a make-up exam on the specified day and time, according to the relevant regulation. 

What can I do if I have overlapping classes?  

Students can follow their overlapping classes using their absence rights. However, if they encounter a problem of failing a class due to absence, the responsibility lies entirely with the students.

Yes. To apply for an exemption, you need to submit your transcript along with an application form to the secretary of your department. Your documents will then be forwarded to the Modern Languages Department for evaluation.

Can I be exempted from the mandatory English courses?

Yes, exemption from mandatory English classes is possible if you meet specific criteria. For detailed information on these criteria and application process, please click here.

Exemption applications are only accepted at the beginning of the Fall semester. A successful application covers courses for both the Fall and Spring semesters.

Languages such as German, Arabic, French, Chinese, Italian, Russian, Japanese, and Spanish are offered as elective foreign language courses.

The following exams can be used for exemption from ENG 101-102 and ENG 211-212 compulsory English courses:

  • OSTİM Technical University Proficiency Exam
  • YDS (Foreign Language Exam)
  • e-YDS (Electronic Foreign Language Exam)
  • YÖKDİL (Higher Education Institutions Foreign Language Exam)
  • TOEFL IBT (Note: TOEFL Home Edition is not accepted)
  • CAE (Cambridge English: Advanced)
  • CPE (Cambridge English: Proficiency)
  • PTE (Pearson Test of English Academic)


Yes, the Modern Languages Department administers an exemption exam specifically for ENG 111-112 and YAD 103-104 compulsory English courses. Your exemption status is determined based on the grade you receive in this exam.
